Jute is a sun-kissed fibre harvested from the tall Corchorus plants of South Asia, where monsoon winds coax each stalk to its golden height.

Spun into coarse, rope-like threads, jute weaves an earthy canvas that is both sturdy and supple.

Its natural grit resists high foot traffic while breathing gently underfoot—perfect for a rug that ages into soft patina over time.

Because jute grows quickly and is entirely biodegradable, it stands as a humble ambassador of sustainable craft: every rug carries the warmth of its fields, a quiet nod to nature’s slow artistry.

Small Rug (152 cm × 92 cm)
- Fits neatly beneath a small coffee table or in a cozy reading nook.
- Ideal for compact kitchens, bathrooms, or entry areas.

Medium Rug (180 cm × 120 cm)
- Centers under an armchair or small sofa in a modest living room.
- Leaves at least 30 cm of floor visible around all sides for balance.

Large Rug (240 cm × 152 cm)
- Anchors a full seating arrangement—sofa plus chairs—or a dining table for 4–6.
- Frames a living area while still showing a generous floor border.

For Everyday Cleaning we suggest a quality suction vacuum cleaner - aim for a high level of suction to work into the base of the weave and remove any dust or dirt.

Avoid using devices with rotating beater bars / brushes as this can damage the surface of the pile.

Jute is a natural fiber derived from the jute plant, primarily grown in the warm, humid regions of South Asia. Known for its eco-friendly properties, jute is a sustainable and biodegradable material. It has a soft, lustrous texture and is often used in the creation of rugs, textiles, and various handicrafts. Jute rugs are celebrated for their rustic charm and ability to add a touch of warmth and texture to any room.

Jute is not suitable for high moisture areas. While jute rugs offer a delightful rustic aesthetic and eco-friendly benefits, they have low water resistance, scoring only 2 out of 5. This makes them less ideal for areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, or any space prone to spills and moisture.

For optimal longevity and maintenance, it’s best to place jute rugs in low-moisture areas like living rooms, bedrooms, or dining rooms.

Jute is moderately durable but not hard-wearing compared to other natural fibers like sisal or seagrass. It is best suited for light domestic use, making it perfect for areas with less foot traffic such as bedrooms and living rooms. It is not recommended for heavy domestic use or high-traffic areas like hallways or entryways. The natural softness and texture of jute provide a cozy feel underfoot but may wear out faster under constant, heavy use.
