What is Coir?

Coir is a statement fibre, rustic and hardwearing.  It is harvested from coconuts with long coarse fibres being removed from the husk of the nut by hand.

Coir cannot be dyed, although it can be bleached as can be seen in our ranges.  Very hardwearing, Coir can be used in a variety of both domestic and light contract areas.

Coir Carpet has grown in popularity and a Coir Rug provides the same feel without overwhelming a room with a single texture wall to wall. They can be used in Coir Runners to elevate a hallway entrance.

If exposed to sunlight bleached Coir can return to its natural colour.

Fun Fact: In coir bed mats have been used as a layer of breathability between mattress and bedframe owing to their intricate weaving providing access to the air.
